St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Waltham Cross
Choosing the right nursery is an important step in your child’s early journey, and at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School our nursery provides a warm, nurturing and purposeful environment where children are known, supported and encouraged to flourish.
Our nursery is a single-form setting, welcoming children in the year immediately before they enter Reception. This gives children the best possible start by helping them settle into school life with confidence, familiarity and a strong sense of belonging.
What makes our nursery special?
🌟 A calm, caring environment Children are supported by experienced staff who understand that every child develops at their own pace. Relationships are at the heart of what we do, helping children feel safe, happy and ready to learn.
📚 Focused preparation for Reception As part of the primary school, our nursery places strong emphasis on developing the social, emotional and early learning skills children need for a smooth transition into Reception. Familiar routines, shared values and continuity of care make that next step feel natural rather than daunting.
👶 Small, supportive setting Our single-form nursery allows staff to truly know each child as an individual. This means learning can be tailored, confidence can grow, and children are gently encouraged to become independent learners.
🎨 Learning through play Children enjoy a rich mix of structured activities and free play, supporting language development, early numeracy, creativity and physical development — all within a safe, stimulating environment.
✝️ Strong values and community As a Catholic school, St Joseph’s places kindness, respect and care for others at the centre of daily life. Families of all backgrounds and faiths are welcomed into a supportive and inclusive school community.
A confident start to school life
Many parents value the reassurance of knowing their child is already part of the school before starting Reception. Friendships are formed early, children become familiar with the setting, and parents benefit from being connected to the wider school community from the outset.
